This program examines ethical questions that arise when lawyers use generative AI in their practices and encounter AI-generated work from others. We will discuss competence, confidentiality, client communication and supervision through practical scenarios. We will also address how lawyers can respond when self-represented litigants rely on fabricated citations or inaccurate AI-generated filings, while keeping access-to-justice concerns in view. Participants will leave with a framework for checking AI work, protecting client information and maintaining human review.
